While i am a fan of the serial killer / crime thriller genre,  the most compelling reason for me to watch LongLegs was the casting of a famous 90's superstar (no spoilers). Reviews / media comparisons with "The Silence of the Lambs" are odious, though the movie stands alone as a decent watch, if you like the genre.

Lee Harker (scream queen Maika Monroe) is a young and rising star FBI agent with some "special" abilities. Having solved a serial killer / kidnapping, she is put in charge to resolve a mysterious case where families have been brutally murdered by the man of the house, seemingly with no other involvement.  She works through the patterns on how the victims were identified and some common threads emerge.

While she is identifying the potential culprit, as a viewer we are also exposed to her seemingly troubled childhood. When the perpetrator and the methods are unveiled, it is quite a unique premise and navigates into a nervy finale. The movie maintains the dread with the moody score and cinematography. Ms Monroe does a fair job, as the new age Agent Clarice.

The real "shock and awe" however,  is the 90's actor,'s performance. In just 4/5 sequences, he absolutely steals the show. A salute to his commitment for playing this unexpected part, which elevates this B grade film into a very watchable serial killer movie.
