Kohrra- 6 episodes 45 mins avg - Netflix - Punjabi crime drama
This is a superb mini series about two cops investigating a murder (?) of a young man, found dead on his wedding night . Crime thrillers are a favourite genre of the OTT platform, but I think this one is different because of the wonderful acting performances of the two leads Suvinder Vickey and Barun Sobti ( what a year , after Asur 2 ) .
After “Tabbar” and “CAT” ( I have to watch but I understand had good reviews ) - this is another good native punjabi mini series . Varun Badola , Manish Chaudhari as two brothers and patriarchs of the story are strong support , as is Harleen Sethi as the troubled daughter of Suvinder Vickey .
The cinematography , the deliberate slow burn investigation is very much like the HBO series “True Detective” . No character is clean , everyone is trying to wade through the fog in their lives 🙂.
It is by no means perfect , you can probably figure out the way it is going by the 4th episode , but the show stays true to its main plot largely and ends in a satisfying conclusion . The pacing is good and it is overall binge worthy .
Ps:- there is a small part by a female British actor who will all fondly remember as the one who taught cricket to Bhuvan 😀
