After Day 2 (Friday) at Lord’s, I returned to my Airbnb, changed, and switched out my bags to head to Heathrow Terminal 4, where I dropped my luggage off at Excess Baggage/Luggage Storage. This way, I was traveling light for two nights with just my backpack before flying back on Sunday.

The night flight from Terminal 5 landed at Manchester Airport around 23:05. A quick 14-minute Uber ride later, I arrived at an excellent Airbnb in Manchester.

I had the Old Trafford Stadium Tour booked for 11:00 AM on Saturday morning. Thanks to my generous Airbnb host, I managed to make breakfast and, after a short Uber ride, reached the stadium at around 10:55 AM. (The entrance gates had changed, so I took a slightly longer route than expected.)

While my love for football does not match my passion for cricket, Manchester United was one of the clubs I followed closely between 1997 - 2004. Coincidentally, that happened to be one of the golden eras in the club’s history—with Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm and a generation of players winning everything!

The stadium tour is well-organized and managed by the staff—from the reception desk (a decent walk from the entrance) to the friendly ushers who guide the tour and are always patient and even help take great pictures!

The experience lasts about 55 to 60 minutes (and the time you take for photos!). It includes a complete walk through the stadium: pitchside views, the manager’s box, the sponsor’s area, and the corporate dining space. Unfortunately, due to renovations, i could not see the player's changing room—which would have been amazing!

Sir Alex Ferguson’s influence is unmistakable throughout the stadium. His legacy is reflected everywhere you look. There is a real sense of history and it is genuinely awe-inspiring to see how a footballing empire like Manchester United has been built over more than a century. Old Trafford has evolved with time, modernized to where possible, yet proudly preserves the club’s traditions.

The Museum, located on the third floor of the same building where the tour begins and ends, does a fine job of chronicling the club’s legacy. From historic trophies and famous results to iconic players and defining moments, it is all there. Walking beside soaring tributes to club legends like, "The Trinity", Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Roy Keane… is simply breathtaking.

There is also a café and a gift shop in the same building. The merchandise is expensive—basic fan T-shirts start at £50—but for a true Red Devil, there is a lot of variety to sift through as a souvenir (including customizations).

I do not know if i will ever get the chance to watch a live match at Old Trafford, but experiencing one of the greatest sporting arenas in the world was absolutely unforgettable.
