Wolfs

English / Comedy/Action

110 mins
Apple TV+

A hot shot DA, ends up with a dead male prostitute in a penthouse suite of a hotel. She makes a call to a fixer George Clooney, to clean up the mess. He walks in, silver hair, black jacket, bad back and all, only to be encountered by another of his kind Brad Pitt, who in turn has been brought in by the hotel owner to hold up their end.

The two "Lone Wolfs"  come to terms that they weren't the only ones and are forced to work together to clean up a routine night. Something unexpected happens leading to the night spiralling out of control.

Inspite of the short run time, the movie crawls. There is a chase which just plays out to comedic effect but makes us roll our eyes! There is some thrifty dialogue and typical humour thrown in, which is good. The cinematography (low light) is stunning. All that said, it is a wafer thin plot and there is only so much that the charisma of the leads can do for a movie.

Clooney and Pitt are as they have always been, especially together. Compelling on screen, turning half dialogues into conversations, head shaking, facial ticks, pizzaz and chemistry much like  the Ocean's movies. We have seen this before. Clooney brings back shades of "The American"  and "The Peacemaker" while Pitt is much like "Killing Them Softly" or "Bullet Train".  Young Austin Abrams is also quite good.

All things aside, a movie starring the two most debonair leading men of our generation is reason enough to watch. I hope someone can bring tap into this friendship into some genuine magic one last time!,  maybe like Butch Cassidy and Sundance kid ?
