After RDJ donned the Iron suit in 2008 - Cinema owners have been looking forward to Marvel Studios as a messiah. The movies that followed brought back audiences to the theatres in droves! It took a lot of money, vision, commitment, creative brains coming together, some extremely charismatic actors , good directors and a lot of wonderful source material (Thank you Stan Lee!) to create the universe which culminated spectacularly in Avengers - Endgame .
Since then, nothing has come close to that cinematic high. Save, the fanboy fav Spiderman - No Way Home, some decent bits of Loki ( a critical plot device for the new set of movies) and the theme of Wandavision. It has been tough - to do it all over again, especially with the hard to please audiences of today.
Appreciably, Marvel has tried to be inclusive in levelling it's diversity quotient with the new breed of super heroes, sadly it has been just that - while the heart hasn't been in place and audiences have been withering away.
Such is life - An actor with probably the most critically panned and ridiculous filmography, but for one character, which he literally owes his existence to - may have just given Marvel (and the Cinemas) the adrenaline shot right in the heart!
Deadpool and Wolverine (D&W) is whole lot of ducks, bunts, jocks, spandex and PLENTY of red. It is a slur a minute orgy of universes, superheroes , personalities , timelines (couple of the cameos - are absolutely WOW!, one of them is superb writing!). D&W is an absolute super hero fan's wet dream (hence the tissue reference ).
If you have seen Logan (one of the best movies dehumanising a beloved hero) - you may be absolutely gut wrenched to see what follows in the supremely inventive opening sequence 😁. Absolute salute to Hugh Jackman's commitment at his age to buff up and look even better than he did when he started 24 years back!!
Overall - the movie is certainly Marvel's best probably 2021 and certainly worth the watch. The action set pieces are cheesy and fun - especially the one in the last quarter is just super fun!
It is an Adult rated movie- For all the dialogue and the triple entendre'. It just feels p*** p*t silly that that CBFC decides that its ok to allow about a zillion f*cks but not a single M*********r! - come on ! - grow a pair! (Hey - i should be allowed one R rated review no?...).
This movie may or may not lead into anything bigger - but for the 2 hours - Marvel / Super hero fans will get to experience a little bit of that high from back in the days. Thank heavens for the "Marvel Jesus!"
