The Test is in it's 3rd season now - The mini series started in 2021with Justin Langer taking over after the Sandpaper gate and the journey of the Australia Men's Cricket team, especially in the Test cricket format. This is a largely engaging series and gives a deeper insight into specific players, the team's mentality and leadership qualities.

This season - the focus is on the BIG English summer of 2023, where Australia had to play 6 6 test matches - The final of the WTC against India , followed by the Ashes - all in a span of 2 months. 

The footage consists of a lot of of back room / dressing room footage interspersed with more recent interviews. Together, they create a very engaging perspective on the fiercely competitive men who play the game, while presenting the human side off the pitch.

Minor spoilers below :) - but if you had followed the test match series you would know.

The second episode of the series is ABSOLUTE THEATRE and one of the best pieces of sports documentary that you will ever watch. It captures one and a half test matches only, but so much happened in those two games, conjuring drama.

• The 2nd test match at Lords 
• Pat Cummins getting hit on under his eye while fielding. 
• Nathan Lyon's 100th consecutive test match (the first bowler in the history of the game to do so. His injury and he coming out to bat in the Australian second innings. 
• The Ben Stokes and Johnny Bairstow bombarding in the second innings, which is cut short by the "stumping"  -  "Spirit of the game" 
• The boorish behaviour of the members of the MCC in the Long room when the Australian team is walking back to the dressing room. The press and media outrage thereafter. 
• The next test match, Cameron Green being injured and Mitch Marsh coming into contention. His own admission of being Australia's most "loved" player and the fairy tale test match hundred bailing his team out in the first innings and Ben stokes again!

Seeing grown men who are fierce competitors on the field,  bawling inside the dressing room - cannot get any better than this! 

If you like sports documentaries and especially follow cricket like i do - Do not miss this. If Season 2 showed early promise of what Pat Cummins is as a leader (the Justin Langer controversy). This one will definitely make you consider respecting the man a little more.  This, inspite of him  denying India two world titles and on the backing of his recent IPL captaincy stint.
